The citizen information platform
of the European Parliament,

The European Parliament entrusted Andromede with the design overhaul of "What Europe Does For Me", the tool that informs citizens, project by project, about what Europe concretely achieves for them. / The client

A central piece of the institutions—citizens dialogue.

The European Parliament — one of the Union's main institutions — entrusted Andromede with the design overhaul of the "What Europe Does For Me" site. This tool informs citizens, project by project, about what Europe concretely achieves for them, in their region, in their sector.

It is not just another communication site: it is a central piece of the dialogue between the European institutions and citizens.

/ The challenge

Six structural constraints, all at once.

  • A non-negotiable electoral deadline — the overhaul had to be ready for the 2024 European elections, promoted by all the institutions, the Commission included.
  • A requirement for total accessibility — a European citizen tool must be usable by everyone, regardless of equipment, connection, visual or cognitive ability. Target: WCAG 2.1 level AA compliance.
  • Deployment on the digital kiosks of the European Parliament and the Commission — beyond the standard browser, with their own constraints of screen, touch interaction and robustness.
  • Full multilingualism — the 24 official languages of the Union, without exception.
  • An institutional visual identity — the European Parliament's — to respect without betraying it, while giving it a contemporary expression.
  • A mandated technical base — development in Angular / JavaScript to fit into the Parliament's ecosystem.
/ Three journeys, one tool

Find what Europe
does for me,
where I live.

In my region — to explore European action on an interactive map. In my life — to discover it by profile and everyday theme. Close-up — to dive into an emblematic project. Each journey is designed so that a citizen with no institutional background finds the information that concerns them in a few clicks.

"In my region" — interactive map by member state
01 / In my region Explore European action on a map. Select the country, zoom into regions, concrete projects shown with their location and theme.
"In my life" — articles by citizen profile
02 / In my life Discover Europe through everyday life. 398 articles sorted by life theme — my health, my travels, my job, my rights — accessible by profile.
/ The method

Our approach.

This is exactly the kind of project that illustrates Andromede's positioning for the European institutions — deep needs analysis, advice before execution, a step-by-step method, and the end user at the heart of every decision.

  • 01 — Understand before proposing. In-depth work on the target citizens, their consultation contexts, the assumed level of political literacy.
  • 02 — Wireframes to rethink navigation. Before any visual investment: a wireframing phase to rethink the structure and user journey.
  • 03 — Design, with WCAG 2.1 AA throughout. Based on the Parliament's identity, palettes and texts reworked to ensure consistent readability on every device.
  • 04 — A playful, clear user journey. So that a citizen, with no institutional background, can discover what Europe does for them in an engaging way.
  • 05 — Angular development, built multi-device. Application developed in Angular / JavaScript, in line with the Parliament's standards, with specific work for the touch kiosks.

/ What we delivered

The results.

  • A citizen tool redesigned and delivered on time for the 2024 European elections.
  • Verified WCAG 2.1 AA compliance — accessibility at the level expected of a European public service.
  • The 24 official languages of the European Union deployed.
  • A tool operational on the digital kiosks in the premises of the European Parliament and the Commission.
  • A playful, clear user journey, designed for every citizen profile.
  • A site carried and promoted by all the European institutions — Parliament and Commission included.
/ What this project says about us

Three convictions at the heart of Andromede.

"What Europe Does For Me" illustrates three convictions at the heart of Andromede's positioning.

  • Understand before proposing. Not a single line of code, not a single mockup preceded the work of understanding the needs.
  • The step-by-step method — wireframes before design before development — not as a formality, but as what makes it possible to hold a non-negotiable deadline while placing the right trade-offs at the right moment.
  • Accessibility as a principle, not a finish. A European democratic tool must be democratic in its very design.

This is what turns a website into a tool of transparency — and it is what organisations that take their public mission seriously are looking for.
